A fire broke out this Sunday at the start of the afternoon in a waste collection center in the town of Voreppe (Isère), located near Grenoble.

Quickly alerted, the firefighters were mobilized to control the flames, which had gone into a pile of garbage, reports France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

A site at risk

The alert was given around 1 p.m.

The fire broke out in a volume of random waste of 50 cubic meters.

It was "not virulent" according to the firefighters but the site being in the open air, the fire continued to progress.

The risk was great, the total volume of the dump being 400 cubic meters.

The flames were quickly brought under control but persisted.

This Monday, a dozen firefighters equipped with two fire hoses were still on site to monitor the area and put out the remaining fires.
