On the other hand, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum called on the Palestinians in the occupied West Bank to "escalate the comprehensive resistance" in response to the Israeli settlement policy.

We call for expanding the circle of resistance and engaging with the enemy and its settlers with all available tools and means in response to the settlements, Barhoum said in a press statement.

He added that the "fencing" of the occupation in large areas in the northern Jordan Valley to seize them for the benefit of its settlement projects is a theft and a crime that comes within the framework of the continuous aggression against the people, land and holy sites.

Barhoum condemned Israel's continuation of the policy of displacement and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people, saying, "This policy will not succeed in obliterating the historical features of the land, and will not discourage the people from the struggle."

Yesterday evening, Saturday, human rights activist in the Jordan Valley, Aref Daraghmeh, said that the Israeli authorities have built a fence around areas of the lands of "Khirbet Ihmeir" belonging to Khirbet "Al Farisiya" in the north-east of the West Bank, with the aim of seizing them for the benefit of settlement projects.

Daraghmeh stated in a post on his Facebook account that these lands have been razed for months to build infrastructure projects for settlers on them.

For his part, Moataz Bisharat, director of the Office of the Settlement and Wall Resistance Commission (official) in Tubas and the northern Jordan Valley, explained that these lands were seized by the so-called Israeli “settlement council” last year, and bulldozing work began seven months ago.

Bisharat added in a previous statement to Anadolu Agency that the settlement council plans to establish a school, projects and housing units for settlers in those lands.

The area of the Palestinian Jordan Valley area is about 1.6 million dunams (a dunam is equal to one thousand square meters), and about 13,000 Israeli settlers live in it in 38 settlements, while about 65,000 Palestinians live in 34 gatherings.
