Linköping municipality aims for their new properties to achieve Miljöbyggnad silver, which means that the houses are more environmentally friendly and consume less electricity than is required by the Housing Authority.

In the new building at Vidingsjöskolan, it is noticeable, among other things, through more efficient ventilation.

- When there are many students here, it will blow a lot of air and if there is no one here, it does not blow so much.

In this way, the fans will not have to run unnecessarily and then we save electricity, says Joakim Danielsson, project manager Lejonfastigheter.

The investment is not something that was started now because of the electricity prices, but the decision to drive more energy efficiently is something that felt increasingly right in view of the current situation.

- I think that the time is right, although this is of course an issue that we must continue to work on, says Linda Malmén, Linköping municipality's sustainability manager.

More investment in solar cells

The municipality's goal is that by 2025, 5 percent of all electricity should come from solar cells, and by 2040, that goal should be 20 percent.

This means that you now have to drive more aggressively with the deployment of solar cells.

- We have rethought the strategy.

On this roof, which is not in a straight southern direction, we are now planning to install solar cells on it, says Joakim Danielsson about the newly built roof at Vidingsjöskolan.
