Joy and sorrow in the liberated parts of Ukraine - SVT on location in Izium

The destruction is great in the city of Izium after the Russian retreat.

But despite the ruins, joy reigns in the city.

- On the 10th we learned that the flag had been raised on Mount Kremjanets.

We were completely overjoyed, says Ljuda, to SVT's reporter Elin Jönsson and photographer Lars Lyrefelt.

But after six months of occupation, it will be a long time before everyday life can return here.

Natalja, who lives in the city, had just renovated her apartment when the house was hit by a shell.

- I had intended to live here for the rest of my life and now I have nothing left.

I bought the washing machine on credit and my refrigerator was also new, she says.
