The deteriorating public opinion was decisive for President Yoon Seok-yeol's sudden withdrawal of the plan to build a new guesthouse.

The Office of the President said that during Yoon's term, the Office of the President would take the initiative and not bring up the need to build a guesthouse again.

This is the report by Park Won-kyung.

It is said that the plan to build a new guesthouse in Yongsan was strongly advocated by the Presidential Security Service.

For the presidential event, security must be prepared at least two or three days in advance, but the existing Blue House guesthouse is open to the public, so it is difficult to use it in a way that causes inconvenience.

A high-ranking official at the presidential office said that it was planned to be a place where not only the president but also the speaker of the National Assembly, opposition parties, and the prime minister can share the name, so the name is 'national guesthouse'.

The problem was that there was no prior explanation from the people and the National Assembly.

The presidential office emphasized, "The budget for the new guesthouse was included at the last minute, but there was no intention to hide it as the budget would have to be disclosed once it was submitted to the National Assembly."

However, as the contents of the budget became known through SBS reports, criticisms were raised that it was a one-sided and unreasonable push in a difficult situation in the national economy.

A high-ranking official at the presidential office said both the opposition and opposition parties agreed on the need for a new guesthouse, but said the presidential office would not come up with the need to build a new guesthouse again during President Yoon's term.

First of all, it is interpreted to mean that the Yongsan Presidential Office or a hotel will be used as a place for foreign guests as it is now, while monitoring the public opinion on the construction of the new guesthouse.
