“We regret that Andrei Marga, a former minister of a European and democratic state, is making statements that question the basic principles of international law, in particular the inviolability of borders,” the embassy said on Twitter.
The department noted that such statements are unacceptable under any circumstances.
Earlier, Marga called the borders of Ukraine unnatural, and also called on Kyiv to cede the territories of Russia, Hungary, Poland and Romania.
