It was the first message to the Nation from President

Macky Sall

since the legislative elections of July 31, marked by a strong breakthrough of the opposition.

The composition of the new Assembly reflects the freedom and plurality of our choices

", declared the Head of State, Friday, September 16 in the evening, insisting on "

the unity of the Nation

 " and "

living together

 » :

“

I deeply regret the incidents that occurred

during the election of the office of the National Assembly.

The distressing spectacle to which some have engaged in the enclosure of the national representation is of an extreme gravity, unworthy of a major democracy and unworthy of the confidence of the people.

The appointment of the Prime Minister –

expected for eight months

“

Measures to reduce the cost of living and support for employment and entrepreneurship for young people, the fight against floods, high rents will remain the top priorities for me.

 »

“

Extensive consultations are planned with all stakeholders, in particular consumer associations and traders

,” assured the President of the Republic.
