“During a telephone conversation, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin warmly thanked the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the hospitality and excellent organization of the SCO summit held in Samarkand,” the statement says.

The parties also discussed some topical issues on the bilateral agenda, including in the trade and economic sphere.

"The mutual intention to further strengthen the Russian-Uzbek strategic partnership and alliance has been confirmed," the message added.

Earlier it was reported that Russia and Uzbekistan agreed to deepen cooperation on oil supplies.
