Ukrainian authorities said that torture and massacre conditions were revealed in a number of bodies buried in Igeum in the northeast of the country, where the Russian army had withdrawn.

Ukrainian police and forensic experts said on the 16th (local time) that they discovered that about 450 mass burial sites were found in the northwestern outskirts of Igeum, and they found that many bodies had ropes wrapped around their necks and their hands were tied.

Prosecutor General Oleksandr Pilchakou Kharkiv said the incident was a trace of torture.

Ukrainian Deputy Interior Minister Yevchen Enin said in a local radio interview that "there were also traces of decapitated ears on the body. This is only the beginning."

Ukrainian police chief Ihor Klymenko also estimated that most of the bodies buried were civilians.

He also explained that the bodies appear to have been buried since March, and that it will take a considerable amount of time to determine the exact cause of death.

Police Commissioner Klimenko said they also found torture chambers in some villages in Kharkiv.

In Ukraine, massacres of civilians are being confirmed one after another in cities that were evacuated and occupied by Russian troops, such as a mass burial site where 50 bodies were buried in a bucha in March.
