Two policemen have been stabbed by a man around 5:00 GMT this Friday in central London and are hospitalized in an incident whose

circumstances are unknown, although it is not, for now, related to terrorism

, according to the Metropolitan Police.

In a brief statement, Scotland Yard indicated that in the event that occurred in the central Leicester square "an electric shock gun was used and a man was arrested on suspicion of causing physical damage and

assaulting an emergency services worker

."

It is ruled out, for the time being, that what happened has any relation to terrorist activities.

The two agents receive medical care at a hospital, as does the third victim, as revealed by the police force in its note, although at the moment their health status is unknown.

The police added that "they are carrying out investigations to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident."

A "terrifying" attack

London Mayor Sadiq Khan called the attack "absolutely appalling".

"These brave officers were doing her duty and helping the public at this momentous time for our country," he explains, referring to the

memorial service for Queen Elizabeth II and the proclamation of her son Charles III. as the new King.

"My thoughts and prayers are with them, their loved ones and their fellow police officers in the aftermath of this shameful attack."
