After several difficult years, the Chocolaterie de Bourgogne is about to resume its activity.

The former general manager has recovered the factory and the shop located in the heart of Dijon (Côte-d'Or) will reopen on September 22, reports France 3 Bourgogne Franche-Comté.

Seven employees only

The company, which manufactures, among other things, chocolate snails (Burgundy obliges), had ceased its activities in March 2021 after years of economic difficulties.

It underwent three receiverships in 2014, 2017 and 2021. The Covid-19 pandemic also got the better of the company, which had just regained a fragile financial balance.

If the chocolate factory employed up to 1,000 people at the height of its activity, the director decided to opt for another strategy.

Only seven employees have been hired so far.

“We will start small, very small,” he explains to France 3. “Only then will we develop the tool.
