He had been on the run for a little over a month.

A 49-year-old Tunisian suspected of having killed his partner and daughter in Austria in early August was arrested in Brest on Tuesday, the Austrian Federal Criminal Police Office said in a statement.

The case started on August 4 when two young children presented themselves alone at a doctor's office in Vienna.

Alerted, the Austrian police had brought them back to their home.

It was there that they had discovered the lifeless bodies of the mother of two children, aged 32, and her eldest daughter, aged 15.

Suspected of the crime, the companion of the thirty-year-old had left Austria by train to reach France.

He had since been the subject of a European arrest warrant.

On Tuesday, the Brest judicial police picked him up while he was in an accommodation center for asylum seekers, reports
