There has been considerable political change in some parts of the country.

In Stockholm and Västra Götaland, the Social Democrats appear to be the big winners of the regional elections - while the blue-green blocs, consisting of the bourgeois parties and the Green Party, are backing down.

Now there is a shift in power in both regions.

The MP in both the Stockholm Region and the Västra Götaland region have indeed opened up to abandoning their blue-green blocs and starting a collaboration with S.

- We agree with S about trying to find support for a new government in the region, says Madeleine Jonsson, MP's regional top name in Västra Götaland.

In Region Skåne, the ruling alliance parties - M, C, L and KD - are retreating, while S and V are increasing.

But none of the alternatives has so far enough mandates in regional plenipotentiaries to govern.

SD collects 30 mandates but neither L nor C is willing to govern together with them.

- I never close any doors, but now we must first sit down with our alliance colleagues and include the Sweden Democrats in those discussions, says regional councilor Carl Johan Sonesson (M).

The 72-year-long S era seems to be over

Even in several municipalities, the winds of change are blowing.

In Oxelösund in Sörmland, the Moderates look set to become the largest party in the municipal council.

It would mean the end of a 72-year era of social democratic rule.

- Yes, right now it doesn't look so bright for us.

It seems that there will be a majority shift in Oxelösund, says Catharina Fredriksson (S), chairman of the municipal board in Oxelösund.

In Karlstad, the blue-green bloc, which has governed the municipality since 2010, looks set to lose three mandates, while S is making strong progress, and gets four additional mandates.

- It gives us a good starting point for the negotiations, says Linda Larsson (S), municipal councilor in Karlstad.

Change of power for the first time in 92 years

In the S stronghold of Oskarshamn, there may be a change of power for the first time in 92 years.

S is still the largest at 32.3 percent, but both M and SD are moving forward, and could coordinate with KD, according to the Barometer.

However, it is also possible that S and the Moderates, just like today, will continue to lead the municipality together.
