A tragedy occurred Tuesday morning at a level crossing in the town of Lanester (Morbihan), reports

A little before 9 a.m., an 83-year-old woman who was riding a bicycle was hit by a regional express train which provided the link between Nantes and Quimper.

The victim died instantly.

According to the first elements, the octogenarian would have entered the railway despite the closed barriers and the light signal.

She would have first let a first train pass but would not have seen the second which hit her head-on.

Three witnesses to the scene, shocked, were taken care of by firefighters.

The accident caused the interruption of rail traffic for approximately two hours.
