A source from the Association for the Defense of the Rights of Depositors said that an armed depositor and her accomplices were held hostage for a short period in the Bank of Lebanon and Overseas (BLOM), today, Wednesday, and left the bank after receiving 13 thousand dollars and about 6 million Lebanese pounds.

The source of the "Depositors' Cry" association, which defends Lebanese citizens whose savings were suspended in Lebanese banks in light of the financial collapse, added that the woman was seeking to access her savings to pay for her sister's cancer treatment.

A source at BLOM Bank confirmed that the hostage situation had ended.

Today, Wednesday, dozens of Lebanese depositors stormed the bank, which is located in the Sodeco area, east of Beirut, after one of the women tried to pour gasoline on herself, to demand her deposits, according to video clips broadcast by platforms concerned with the rights of depositors, and reported by the Sanad Agency for Monitoring and Verification of News in Al Jazeera Network.
