It is reported that President Yoon Seok-yeol is planning to appoint Lee Won-seok, prosecutor general candidate, and Han Ki-jeong, fair trade chairperson candidate, who failed the first hearing report before his trip to the UK on the 18th.

The first deadline for the National Assembly's personnel hearings on the two candidates expired yesterday (13th), and the presidential office requested the National Assembly today to resend the hearing report by setting the deadline until tomorrow.

According to the Personnel Hearings Act, the National Assembly must complete the review within 20 days from the date the motion for appointment is submitted.

If the hearing report is not passed within 20 days, the president may request the National Assembly to re-send the personnel hearing progress report within 10 days.

A high-ranking official at the presidential office said, "President Yoon will decide on the appointment of the two people before he leaves for a tour."

As the deadline for re-sending is until tomorrow, if the hearing report is not adopted by tomorrow, President Yoon is expected to appoint two candidates on the 16th before departure.

Previously, Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People's Power, emphasized, "Now is the time to make a decision" in relation to the failure to adopt a hearing report on Lee Won-seok, a candidate for prosecutor general, at a meeting of the Emergency Response Committee this morning.

At a briefing this afternoon, Deputy Spokesperson Lee Jae-myung of the Presidential Office also urged the adoption of the hearing report, saying, "The refusal of the (Democratic Party) to adopt a hearing report in violation of the legal deadline may be viewed as a reckless hindrance to state affairs."
