In this committee are six ministers, members of the first circle of the Head of State, such as that of Justice, Arnaud Djoubaye Abazene, or that in charge of Relations with the institutions, Maxime Balalou.

MPs, including Brice Kevin Kakpayen, promoter of a reform of the Constitution tabled in the National Assembly last May, but also representatives of civil society groups, unions, chiefdoms, or even religious denominations.

Some of the appointees had opposed a constitutional review during the Republican Dialogue in March.

Today, they are called to write a new one.

Chosen from among the delegates, MP Arthur Simplice Zingas sees no contradiction in this: the co-founder of the Union of Opposition Democratic Forces (UFDO) platform says he "

does not want to presume

" about the content of the discussions, and that he “

will come with his proposals

”.

"

The opposition is plural, what matters is the best interests of the nation

" he defends himself.

His former comrades within the COD-2020 or the new Republican Bloc for the Defense of the Constitution (BRDC) denounce "

poaching

", while the anti-revision civil society platform, G-16, is concerned about an "

institutional coup in preparation

", and sees in these appointments a "

means of putting pressure

" on the Constitutional Court, which must rule by the end of the month on the validity of the constitutional process.
