“According to the State Security Service of Abkhazia, Lucas was engaged in collecting intelligence in the republic,” Interfax reports, citing Abkhaz Foreign Minister Inal Ardzinba.

According to the diplomat, Lucas previously worked in the French Ministry of Defense and was the military attaché of Paris in Tbilisi.

He stressed that the actions of the UN representative are regarded as a direct threat to the national security of Abkhazia.

“In this regard, the implementation of the UN project near the Russian military base is prohibited,” the head of the Abkhaz Foreign Ministry said.

Ardzinba added that Lucas had already left the territory of the republic.

On April 11, the French Foreign Ministry reported that six Russian diplomats had been declared persona non grata in France.

They subsequently left France.
