US President Biden has signed an executive order entitled 'National Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Initiative'.

Its main content is to ensure that everything invented in the United States in the field of biotechnology, such as biopharmaceuticals, is made in the United States.

The White House stressed that the U.S. must have its own production capacity, saying that access to key materials is being threatened by overreliance on overseas production in the biotechnology field.

It is interpreted that this includes the intention of suppressing the public to reduce dependence on bio-production bases concentrated in China by expanding bio-production in the United States.

President Biden also announced plans to invest heavily in cancer research through this.

By promoting 'Am Moonshot', named after former President Kennedy's 'Moonshot', which was a lunar exploration project, the goal is to cut the cancer mortality rate in the United States by less than half over the next 25 years.

[Carinne Jean-Pierre/White House Spokesperson: Another 'moonshot' in America is conquering cancer.

Tens of thousands of cancer patients will see their drugs get cheaper by thousands of dollars each year.]

The White House explained that direct U.S. production in the bio sector, following electric vehicles and semiconductors, will contribute to job creation, supply chain construction and price stability.
