As Queen Elizabeth's remains traveled to Edinburgh to rest before returning to London, Charles was officially proclaimed king in the heart of Scotland's capital.

Charles turned to the Commonwealth

Elizabeth's remains at Holyroodhouse

As for the remains of her mother, Elizabeth II, she left the Balmoral estate today, where the monarch had died on Thursday, to join the palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

A compact crowd welcomed the royal remains to the Scottish capital, which traveled 300 kilometers in six hours, covered with the Scottish royal standard and a wreath of white heather.

The Queen's coffin arrives in Edinburgh to the sound of applause from the large crowds gathered along the streets.



Its arrival marks the conclusion of its six-hour journey from Balmoral.
