According to RIA Novosti, Russians intending to visit the EU countries will now be subject to the general rules for issuing visas for citizens from third countries.

The cost of a visa will increase to €80, and the maximum processing time for an application will increase to 45 days.

In addition, Russian citizens will need to provide an extended list of documents when applying.

It is noted that the consideration of applications for travel with tourist purposes will be a non-priority and will be carried out last.

Priority will be given to journalists, family members of EU citizens, dissidents, students and a number of other categories of citizens.

Earlier, the European Commission recommended that EU countries carefully check all recipients and holders of Schengen visas from Russia for a "security threat" to the European Union.
