It is noted that since the end of February, the Service for Foreigners and Borders has received ten requests from Russians for a residence permit in exchange for investments under the Golden Visa program, all of which were rejected.

Over the past ten years, more than 430 golden visas have been issued to Russians in Portugal, with a total investment of over €277 million.

Earlier, the Council of the European Union finally approved the decision to suspend the simplified visa regime with Russia.

The statement clarifies that this will lead to an increase in the visa fee from €35 to €80, the need to provide additional documents, an increase in the time for issuing a visa and tightening the rules for issuing multiple visas.

The rule will apply from 12 September.
