Need for blood type “O +”

Organizers of the "My Blood for My Country" initiative called on citizens and residents of the "O+" blood type to donate blood, by visiting the Dubai Blood Donation Center of the Dubai Health Authority, which is located at Latifa Hospital.

The coordinators of the initiative said that owners of rare species are always invited to donate blood, which contributes to saving sick and accidental cases in the emirate's hospitals, and cases of bleeding.

They pointed out that "the need for an O-type is great these days," calling for donations at the center, which opens its doors from seven thirty in the morning until seven thirty in the evening.

The initiative's delegation included representatives of the initiative's organizers, namely the Secretary Service in Dubai Police, the Dubai Health Authority, and Emirates Today.

The delegation explained the objectives of the initiative, which seeks to spread awareness of the importance of donating blood, instilling a culture of blood donation periodically among government and private department employees, and emphasizing the importance of donating in saving the lives of patients and accident victims in hospitals.

The delegation called on municipality employees to donate blood, through the mobile donation center that accompanies the convoy, and donate on the first, second and third days of December at the donation center of the initiative in the Global Village, in conjunction with the 44th National Day celebrations.

The donors were presented as assistants to the Director General and leaders in the municipality, including National Council member Khalid Ali bin Zayed and Muhammad Abdul Karim Julfar.

It was noteworthy that the list of donors included female employees who were keen to donate blood, as well as officials from the Etisalat Corporation and auditors of the municipality who submitted to donate blood when they learned of the campaign.

He added: "The municipality was keen to receive the (My Blood for My Country) convoy and praise its great humanitarian goals, and support it by inviting all employees from various sectors and departments to donate blood."

He continued, "The response was great from the citizen employees, and it was remarkable that a large percentage of the donors were Arab and foreign resident employees."

Al-Banna, who participated in donating blood, continued: "Assistants to the Director-General and leaders in the municipality were keen to advance the ranks of donors as the simplest expression of loyalty to the homeland, and at the same time motivate employees to donate blood."
