A very unusual statement regarding the Queen's health.

Moments earlier, memos had been passed to Prime Minister Liz Truss and members of her team in Parliament, urging them to leave the room.

On Tuesday again, the queen had received at Balmoral, her place of retirement in the Scottish Highlands, the new Prime Minister and her predecessor Boris Johnson.

Liz Truss tweeted almost immediately afterwards: '

,' she wrote, adding: '

My thoughts - and those of everyone in the UK - United – are going to Her Majesty The Queen and her family at this time.

The 96-year-old monarch has suffered from health problems since last October that prevent her from walking and standing.

The heir to the throne, Prince Charles, 73, and his eldest son, Prince William, 40, were on their way to Balmoral, according to their offices at Clarence House and Kensington Palace.
