The reaction of the European markets to the ECB's decision to increase interest rates by 75 basis points, the highest since the Euro has existed, was marked by volatility. 

Shortly after the announcement, the Ftse Mib index of the Milan stock exchange fell, losing 1 and a half percent.

Then there was a recovery, after the start of trading on Wall Street;

the closing was growing, + 0.88% for the main index of Piazza Affari.

Only in Frankfurt was the closing down slightly, -0.09%.   

However, the reaction between the sectors was different: the banks were above all to rise.

The sector index at Piazza Affari rose by 3.43%.

Conversely, energy and Tlc stocks are down. 

On Wall Street the Dow Jones and Nasdaq indices are up: + 0.33% for the Dow Jones, Nasdaq + 0.45%. 

After the decision, the euro rose above par with the dollar.

It then returned below the threshold, at 0.9955.

The BTP / Bund spread fell by 7 basis points, to 223, the yield of the ten-year BTP is 3.93 per cent.

On the eve of the EU's energy council, gas this morning dropped below € 200 per megawatt hour.

It starts to close trading at 225 euros, + 5% compared to yesterday's close.
