The Montluçon Criminal Court (Allier) on Tuesday sentenced an 81-year-old hunter to a fine of 1,000 euros.

The defendant was also deprived of his hunting license for three years and will have to pay a fine of 100 euros.

He was appearing for "endangering the lives of others" and breaches of safety rules protecting hunters and non-hunters, says

The weapon had snagged on his waistcoat

On February 19, 2021, a shot hit a house in Huriel (Allier).

A gendarmerie investigation had shown that the respondent was participating in a beat and had accidentally used his hunting rifle.

Part of the weapon had caught in his vest.

The cannon was then pointed towards the house 800 m away and towards other hunters.

After the shooter's apologies, the occupant of the dwelling withdrew her complaint.

The prosecutor, on the other hand, wanted to prosecute the hunter, whom he suspected of having held his rifle closed, loaded and not directed towards the ground.
