“
Me, Prime Minister, I will not let union activists take our economy hostage
,” said candidate Liz Truss at the end of July, in the midst of a series of strikes in all sectors.
She then promised “ repressive
” measures
against the strikers and
the composition of her government
confirms this desire.
The Truss government
intends, "
in the first 30 days
", to oblige the important sectors, such as transport or the postal workers, who are on strike this Thursday, to provide a minimum service.
This would in fact limit the right to strike.
The new Prime Minister would also have instructed Jacob Rees-Mogg, in charge of Business, to “
revise
” the texts surrounding the protection of workers.
She has regularly assumed that she wants to get rid of a number of regulations in the name of competitiveness.
The unions are demanding clarity on the government's plans, while the first days were devoted to the energy crisis.
Autumn, and the beginning of the Truss era, should remain socially busy: in addition to lawyers, Scottish garbage collectors and railway workers, new mobilizations could be called in hospital services and schools.
