The FBI raid on Trump's villa in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, was looking for

documents related to nuclear weapons, according to some US media.

According to experts, the unprecedented decision to search the home of a former president is a sign of the investigators' deep concern that highly confidential documents could "end up in the wrong hands". 

Former President Donald Trump denies reports that he had brought nuclear weapons documents to his home and, on his Truth Social media platform, lashed out at a report in the Washington Post reporting the search target.

The newspaper also pointed out that it was unclear whether the documents they were looking for related to American nuclear weapons or other states' weapons arsenals.

Furthermore, it is unclear whether they found such documents.

Meanwhile, the US Attorney General, Merrick Garland, announced that he personally authorized the search and

invited the investigators to make public the search warrant and the list of seized documents

, in order to clarify after the Trump's accusations of political use of justice for a "witch hunt" against him.

Now Trump's lawyers have little time left to oppose the publication of the warrant before the judge, but the former president wasted no time and in a statement released last night said that

"not only will I not oppose the release of the documents," but I will go further in encouraging its immediate publication

"Publish the documents now," he added, once again labeling the FBI search as "an unnecessary non-US raid and a violation of my residence."  

"The clear and powerful public interest in understanding what happened under these circumstances clearly pushes in favor of publication," the federal prosecutors said in the request submitted to the judge, recalling that Trump's lawyers were given a copy of the warrant and a receipt. with the list of the material seized.

The prosecutors' request comes after both the New York Times and the conservative group Judicial Watch submitted the same request to the judge.
