Right now, as always when there are only a few days left until the election, there is a lot of focus on opinion polls.

Not least the "match within the match" - the question of whether M or SD will be the largest party on the right - has received a lot of attention.

A number of opinion institutes give, as in the last week, the Sweden Democrats higher figures than the Moderates.

We are therefore asked whether it would not be better for Jimmie Åkesson to meet Magdalena Andersson.

The question is reasonable - but the answer is a relatively simple no.

The program is not a meeting between the representatives of the two largest parties but between the two most likely candidates for prime minister.

The point is to let the voters see a meeting between those who have the greatest opportunity to gather a government document in the Riksdag and who are thus the most likely candidates for prime minister.

The Sweden Democrats certainly have higher numbers in several polls, but as the political landscape looks, Jimmie Åkesson lacks the conditions to be tolerated as Prime Minister by the Riksdag, even if the party were to make strong progress.

Therefore, Magdalena Andersson and Ulf Kristersson are the prime ministerial candidates who meet in SVT.

The prime minister's meeting will be broadcast live from Uppsala on 7 September at 8-9.30 pm on SVT1 and on SVT Play.
