According to Interfax, citing the minister, Russians with short-term Schengen visas will not be able to cross the external border of the EU in the Baltic countries, "whether it be an airport, a land border, and possibly a sea border."

Assessing the effectiveness of the new restrictions, Rinkevich noted that these countries are most often used by Russian citizens to enter the EU.

“This decision has both a forceful and a moral-political aspect,” he added.

Earlier, Rinkevich said that Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia had agreed to restrict the entry of Russians.

Exceptions will be made for truck drivers, diplomats and those entering for family and humanitarian reasons.
