The nightmare is over.

The indigenous killer was arrested after a seventy-two hour escape.

Myles Sanderson, 30, a man with 59 criminal records for assault, robbery and violence, was arrested by Canadian police.

On Sunday, together with his brother Damien, 31, found dead on Monday morning, he carried out a massacre, stabbing ten people and injuring eighteen.

All but one of the victims were part of the rural community of indigenous people in the Saskatchewan region, which borders Montana and North Dakota to the south

.

The victims were between 23 and 78 years old.

A 14-year-old boy, who was initially considered to be among the deceased, is instead injured and hospitalized.

The motive that led to the massacre, which took place on the eve of Labor Day, the day that symbolically closes the summer vacation period, is still unclear

.

The two brothers had gone into action around 5.40 in the afternoon, hitting in thirteen different places, in areas even twenty kilometers away from each other.

Some victims, according to the police, were deliberately targeted, others ended up in the wrong place.

A family of six, murdered by the two brothers, may have been one of the targets that sparked the murderous rampage.

Only one person was not part of the indigenous community and that was the oldest: Wesley Petterson, 78, fond of nature, of birds, ran a bar in the village of Weldon.

When news of the killer's arrest spread in the afternoon, hundreds of people celebrated the end of the nightmare.

"They took it, they took it," many said.

"There is finally a sense of relief," said Shania Peters, 22, who has grandmother Gloria in the attack.

"Many people - she added - will sleep better tonight."

Of the eighteen injured, ten remain in hospital, three are in serious condition.

They are all part of the James Smith Cree Nation reservation community, a village of just over two thousand people.

Even if they can't bring their loved ones back to life, people want to know why the two brothers slaughtered their community.

The answer could come in the next few hours.
