It's rush hour and the cars whiz by on highway 55 just outside Uppsala.

Malte Burwick meets up at the first speed camera on the way to Enköping.

How do you see the thefts of speed cameras?

- That is the single most important issue right now to deal with.

This behavior is truly deplorable.

The Swedish Transport Administration has calculated that if you reduce the average speed by one kilometer per hour, it saves between 10 and 15 lives per year.

Worried about the development

If cameras disappear, Malte Burwick believes that development is going in the wrong direction.

- If we reduce the number of cameras on the roads, the average driver will keep a higher speed.

Then the collision violence will be greater and more accidents will end in the absolute worst way.

Klppet: The speed cameras - that's what they contribute.
