David Lisnard, mayor of Cannes and president of the Association of Mayors of France, returned to the microphone of Europe 1 on the national council for Refoundation initiated by the President of the Republic.

If the mayor of Cannes underlines "the idea that it is a great mass to be seen", he welcomes on the other hand the progress made with Emmanuel Macron to support the mayors and rethink the distribution of administrative powers.

New twist for Emmanuel Macron's National Council for Refoundation (CNR).

After announcing that they would not travel, the associations of local elected officials Regions of France, the Assembly of departments and the Association of mayors of France, will be present Thursday to attend the event.

"We are reaching out" to the government, underlined David Lisnard at the microphone of Europe 1, even if he recognizes a certain skepticism on this national council for refoundation.

"With Regions of France, Department of France and the AMF, we said that we do not believe in the format of the National Council for Refoundation because we believe that it is a great display mass", he explains. .

"But we are respectful of the institutions", underlines the mayor of Cannes.

But it is another more important point which decided the associations of elected officials.

The President of the Republic received this Monday the representatives of these associations to exchange a few days before the national council of the refoundation.

"He gave us an appointment very quickly. And for the first time, there is a radical change. He notably agreed with us on the observation of the civic crisis that our system is going through".
