The government has invested in health care, Lena Hallengren thinks, among other things by pushing for more money and by providing the opportunity for further education on paid working time.
- But ultimately it is the employers who must ensure that there is a working environment and working conditions that make people want to stay, she says.
She pointed out regions where M or KD rule.
- They have obviously failed in that task, says the S minister.
Busch wants to nationalize
- We are responsible for the fact that we have not succeeded well enough, but I think it should be honest that half of the regional boards are cross-block, emphasizes Ebba Busch (KD).
Her party wants healthcare to be nationalized.
That would give the staff more power over their own situation, says Busch.
- The healthcare profession would have much more to say about how Swedish healthcare should be designed.
"Privatize and sell out"
Hallengren agrees with Busch that you should listen to the staff and highlights Region Stockholm (led by M, KD, L, MP and C) as an example.
- There we have a health care revolt that is incredibly loud, and it has come about precisely because people don't like the solutions that the right always chooses: to privatize and sell out, says Hallengren and asks Busch if she also wants to nationalize companies and healthcare contracts as well.
- We will go from 21 different responsibilities to a national responsibility.
I think the voters should ask themselves the question: has it gotten better or worse with social democratic management of healthcare?, counters Busch.
"Guilty for eight years"
The Social Democrats are prepared to take over responsibility for regions governed by M/KD if they are "tired of the task", says Lena Hallengren.
- It will be very strange if we have healthcare for which the regions have employer responsibility and you refuse to take it.
But it is the system that is the problem, says Busch.
- Here we have a minister of social affairs who has spent eight years deflecting blame, she says.
