• America Trump Demands Independent Investigation of Files Seized at His Florida Mansion

  • United States Donald Trump, investigated by Justice for stealing state secrets

A federal judge has given the green light this Monday to the request of former President

Donald Trump

to assign an independent expert to review the dozens of boxes of documentation that the

FBI

seized in the registry of last August 8 in his Mar-a- Lake, Florida.

Aileen Cannon, one of the handful of judges appointed by the Republican during his four-year term, has also ordered the investigation into the seized documents to stop

until the independent figure comes into play

.

This is a significant victory for Joe Biden's predecessor in office.

Not only does it validate a part of the version put forward by his team of lawyers, but it

slows down a process that could lead to prison sentences

for the New York tycoon.

Cannon said that the appointment of a special "master" will serve to review the material stolen by FBI agents from his Florida club and residence, in addition to determining which documents are under attorney-client privilege and should not be part of the process.

For the judge, the

Department of Justice

"possibly overestimated the law" by stating that executive privilege had "no role to play here because the plaintiff, a former head of the executive branch (Trump), is completely excluded from successfully asserting the executive privilege against the current executive power".
