The private plane was on its way to Germany from Spain and was due to land in Cologne, which Dagens news was the first to report.

- They now know that this is a private plane with four people in it, says Johan Wahlström, press spokesman at the Swedish Maritime Administration to SVT.

According to Wahlström, the German and Danish armed forces have been up with reconnaissance plans.

- They have not been able to identify anyone in the cockpit.

- We have a helicopter that is up in the air now.

The Coast Guard has its aircraft 501 in the air.

They also have a larger ship on its way to the site, south of Gotland, says Wahlström.

The Swedish Armed Forces are also monitoring the situation, but do not want to comment on what measures have been taken.

- But of course we are aware of this, says Lotta Börjesson, on-duty communicator at the Swedish Armed Forces.
