French politicians and activists denounced the incident of burning the Rambouillet mosque, located in a suburb of the capital, Paris, especially with the news received that reinforces the hypothesis of the criminal act.

The French platforms broadcast videos of the burning of the mosque last Friday night, as the fire devoured important parts of the mosque.

Eyewitnesses stated that they saw two people running at the moment of the fire, according to the mosque administration's assertions.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanan announced the opening of an investigation into the matter in order to find out the circumstances of the incident and arrest the perpetrators, stressing his solidarity with the Muslim community in France and in the municipality of Rambouillet.

For her part, Mayor of the Municipality, Veronique Mattillon, confirmed, through her account on Twitter, that she is working with all civil society actors and representatives of the Muslim community to strengthen solidarity.

The Dean of the Great Mosque of Paris, Shams El-Din Hafeez, condemned the incident, which he described as criminal, hoping that the investigation would reveal the circumstances of the fire and reveal the perpetrators.

The first secretary of the Socialist Party, Olivier Faure, made it clear that no one should be concerned for his political, religious or philosophical views, stressing that no one would be allowed to divide France.

The head of the parliamentary group in the France Proud Movement, Mathilde Baneau, stressed the need to arrest and punish the aggressors, declaring her solidarity with the Muslim community.

The prominent activist in the fight against Islamophobia, Siham Asbagh, considered that the incidents of targeting mosques and Muslim places of worship in France are a natural result of the promotion of Islamophobia by prominent figures of the extreme right.
