- There are over 130 associations that clean these two weekends at five different rivers in Sweden, says Björn Ferry who is an ambassador for Städa Sweden.

Young people from Bollnäs swimming club braved the torrential rain on Saturday morning when they cleaned up around Ljusnan in Bollnäs.

In return, the swimming club receives an addition to the coffers.

Behind the river cleaning initiative is the economic association Städa Sverige, which is an environmental organization born out of Sweden's sports associations.

Learn to take responsibility

- It's about giving the young people the conditions to understand the effects of littering and that they themselves take responsibility for not littering, says Katarina Ridderberg who is project manager for Städa Sweden.

In the video you meet the young people and hear about the strangest thing that Björn Ferry found in a river.
