A number of villagers confirmed that there is a kinship between the accused and the victim's family, and that the accused had proposed to her, but her family refused to be linked to him due to his misconduct.

However, members of the victim's family said - in statements to the Masrawy website - that the accused had always tried to object their daughter with harassment and request marriage, but he was not serious, so he did not propose to her, accompanying his family and never entering the victim's house.

The family added that the victim repeatedly complained about the harassment of the young man, and after she left the house yesterday, Saturday, to go to the "bakery" to pay for the bread, and after her return and while entering the house, she was surprised by a shot from a firearm that caused her death.

Dozens of villagers gathered in front of the hospital, awaiting the release of Amani's body, for his funeral to his final resting place in the family cemetery in the village, while the security forces in Menoufia intensified their efforts to arrest the fugitive accused.

This crime brings to mind the incident of the murder of Mansoura University student Naira Ashraf at the hands of her colleague who stabbed and slaughtered her with a knife, last June, and caused shock in Egypt and the Arab world, after circulating video clips of the moment.

In a similar incident, less than two months after Naira's killing, Salma Bahgat, 20, was stabbed at least 15 times in Sharkia Governorate (north of Cairo), and a colleague was accused of killing her after she refused his marriage proposal.
