Olaf Scholz has been repeating this for weeks.
He will not leave the Germans alone in the face of inflation.
This is what he recalled when presenting his third aid plan, a program fiercely negotiated with his environmentalist and liberal coalition partners.
The amount of this aid amounts to 65 billion euros, twice as much as the two previous plans presented in the spring.
Among the new measures, an energy check of 300 euros for retirees and another of 200 euros for students, from December.
These two categories had benefited little from previous support plans.
The German government also plans to review and expand housing assistance, increase family allowances, lower VAT on gas and offer, from 2023, a new transport ticket that can be used throughout the territory at a reduced price.
Another measure, Berlin wants to cap the price of gas and finance this measure via
a mandatory contribution from energy companies that benefit from the crisis
.
A measure that Olaf Scholz would like to see applied if possible at European level.
