More than 1,000 rowing enthusiasts gathered on the Seine on Sunday for the 37th edition of the "Crossing of Paris and Hauts-de-Seine", a 28-kilometre hike along the water.
Passage near Notre-Dame cathedral, under the Mirabeau bridge and view of the Eiffel Tower: some 230 four- or five-seater boats sailed on the Seine and crisscrossed the capital for several hours on Sunday.
Leaving from the Pont de Sèvres at 8 a.m., the rowers completed a 28-kilometre loop, with a U-turn at the Quai Saint-Bernard, near the Jardin des Plantes, and an arrival at the end of the morning at the Ile de Sir, in the Hauts-de-Seine.
The river was exceptionally left free to small boats for a few hours, before the resumption of boat traffic at 11 a.m.
Rowers of all ages and representing more than ten nationalities, invited by the Ligue d'Ile-de-France d'aviron, thus aroused the curiosity of onlookers on the outskirts of Ile Saint-Louis, or surprised metro passengers air.
In this 37th edition of the crossing of Paris, the rowers were able to admire some of the most emblematic historical monuments of the capital such as the Grand Palais, the National Assembly or the Louvre Museum.
