A private plane that took off this afternoon in

Jerez (Cádiz)

crashed before 8:00 p.m. in the

Baltic Sea, in Latvian waters,

according to the Swedish press.

The Aftonbladet

newspaper

says that the flight was scheduled to land in the German city of

Cologne,

but contact with it was lost shortly after, so the security protocol was activated indicating that military planes go to the place the plane flies over to see what's wrong.

According to this same newspaper, the plane has not reached its destination and has continued to fly until reaching Baltic waters, when it has lost altitude very quickly, until it crashed off the coast of Latvia.

According to Swedish authorities, a large oil slick is visible in the water and the chances of finding survivors are believed to be slim.

The aircraft could be a

Cessna 551

.

There were four passengers on the plane, always according to this newspaper: the pilot, a couple and a girl.
