Northern Ethiopia continues to burn dangerously.

The civil war took a new turn this week with Eritrea's entry into the war in Tigray, against the Tigrayan insurgents of the TPLF.

Faced with this conflict, which once again threatens to degenerate, the international community is trying to react.

Starting with the United States, which dispatched its envoy for the Horn of Africa to Addis Ababa on Saturday.

During his previous visit, at the beginning of August, he had met the Ethiopian government as well as the Tigrayan insurgents of the TPLF.

The two camps were then very close to meeting around the negotiating table.

A month later, Mike Hammer arrives in an Ethiopia in total war.

The fighting has been raging for ten days.

The humanitarian truce has completely shattered.

Humanitarian sources are already talking about several thousand victims in two weeks of clashes on the outskirts of Tigray.

The American special envoy for the Horn of Africa travels to Ethiopia to demand a total cessation of hostilities.

Its Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, not only condemned

Eritrea's entry into the war

, but also the Tigrayan offensive as well as the airstrikes on civilians carried out by the Ethiopian army.

In this crisis, Western partners and the African Union have so far failed to bring the two sides together.

The French ambassador to the UN also criticized the lack of efficiency of Olusegun Obasanjo, the mediator chosen by the African Union to resolve the Ethiopian crisis.
