A man keeps Mississippi state authorities on edge this Saturday after he

threatened to crash his plane into a shopping center

, which has already been evacuated as a precaution.

The Police Department of the American city of Tupelo posted on Facebook that the alert was triggered at five in the morning local time.

The pilot informed emergency services that

he planned to intentionally crash

the aircraft into the Walmart department store in West Maine.

Local authorities have asked the population to avoid the area until further notice and warned that, due to the ability of a plane to move,

the danger area extends beyond Tupelo.

The flightaware flight tracking website

shows the erratic behavior of the aircraft

, with many circular movements.

The US Federal Administration told CNN on Saturday that it is following the situation in coordination with law enforcement.

Local authorities

have not provided details about the identity of the pilot

or his motivations, but they have said that they have managed to communicate with him.
