The representative of the US State Department confirmed the intention of the US Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan to take part in the funeral of the first President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev in Moscow.
“We can confirm the participation of Ambassador Sullivan,” he told RIA Novosti.
The funeral of former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev will take place on September 3.
His death became known on August 30.
Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences on the death of Gorbachev.
