Turkey's defense minister flies an F-16 fighter over the Aegean Sea amid a row with Greece

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar flew aboard an F-16 fighter jet over the Aegean, making a defiant gesture amid a row over the military use of airspace with Greece.

It is noteworthy that Turkey and Greece are members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Bloomberg News Agency reported that Akar appeared during a military ceremony in the central province of Eskisehir on Friday, where he pledged that Turkey "always responded to Greece's impudence, and we will continue to do so."

The minister was accompanied by Air Force Commander Attila Golan.

It is noteworthy that tensions between the two neighbors escalated again.

Turkey accused Greek forces last month of shutting down the radar installed in a Turkish fighter and pledged to send recordings of the incident to NATO.

This fact was denied by Greece.

Turning off the radar means that the radar system of a missile or fighter automatically follows a specific target, tracking it to accurately hit it.

This method is common in mock combat between nations that are not at war, where fighter pilots confront each other by targeting opponents, without actually launching.
