The third annual conference of the Emirates Oncology Society, organized by the Emirates Cancer Society, in cooperation with the Emirates Medical Association, announced the availability of a new drug for the treatment of breast cancer in the country, called “Enhertu”, after its approval by the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, which benefits about 60% of patients with the disease in its advanced stages.

The conference confirmed that the new drug was made available for the treatment of breast cancer in the country, as the first country in the Middle East and North Africa to adopt this medical drug, which confirms the leadership of the UAE, as the US Food and Drug Administration approved it on the fifth of last August, and it is one of the latest drugs used in the treatment of breast cancer. Breast cancer in advanced stages, as one of the drugs directed at cancer cells, which can benefit 50 to 60% of women with advanced breast cancer, and clinical studies have achieved effective results in controlling the tumor for long periods, and thus this treatment is a scientific breakthrough that will lead to a change in the concept of The world's advanced breast therapy.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, inaugurated the activities of the third annual conference of the Emirates Cancer Society, which is organized by the Emirates Oncology Society, in cooperation with the Emirates Medical Association. 20 countries around the world.

Radiation therapy, chemotherapy, artificial intelligence, precision medicine, cancer vaccines and robotic surgery are all about extending life and revitalizing the fight against this dreaded disease that is so globally challenging with its increasing incidence and mortality rates, so we all need to step up Awareness among the public about the nature and extent of the problem.

This conference is the largest scientific gathering of oncology in the UAE, in which elite doctors and specialists from around the world participate, to discuss the most important and latest methods of cancer treatment, and aims to improve cancer treatment methods in the country, and apply the latest methods of treatment.

The President of the Emirates Cancer Society and Chairman of the Conference, Professor Humaid bin Harmal Al Shamsi, stated that the conference discussed, on its first day, special sessions on breast, colon and stomach cancer, and other digestive system cancers, and leukemia. The participants in a special session also discussed how to develop cancer research in the country. Because medical research occupies a priority for the UAE.

The President of the Emirates Medical Association, Dr. Moza Al-Sharhan, stressed that these conferences are important, as they contribute to the development of the health sector and the oncology sector in particular in the country, which is witnessing successive developments.

It also discussed how to use modern robots in complex cancer surgeries that reduce complications, enhance the chances of recovery, and quickly leave the hospital.
