Leaders of political parties vying for the next legislative elections are trying to conquer, in extremis, young voters on TikTok.

In particular those who have reached the age of majority, because a reform allows them to also participate in the election of senators.

Until the 2018 general election, the minimum age requirement was 25.

The very last to have opened an account on the short video platform is the stainless chief of Forza Italia, Silvio Berlusconi, 85 years old and dust.

Ultra-made-up face, sitting at his manager's desk, nodding from right to left when he pronounces, in a playful tone, the name TikTok, here is how candidate Berlusconi introduces himself.

 Hello young people!

Here I am on my Tik Tok account!

On this platform, 60% of you are under 30 years old.

Which pleases me a bit.

But I still feel proud!

We'll talk about your future on... TikTok

The appearance of the octogenarian leader of Forza Italia on this platform has prompted many ironic comments.

For example: "

What cream do you use against wrinkles

?"

But, basically, no more than the videos posted by other candidates in the September 25 elections.

Matteo Salvini, boss of the League, was the first Italian politician to land on this social network in 2019. He was followed in March 2021 by Giuseppe Conte, current leader of the 5 Stars, then in February 2022 by Giorgia Meloni, head of the postfascist party Fratelli d'Italia.

And more recently by centrists Carlo Calenda and Matteo Renzi.

On the other hand, the secretary of the Democratic Party, Enrico Letta, preferred to open an account in the sole name of his party.
