According to the author of the article, Truss made two mistakes during her February visit to Russia.

First, she showed poor awareness of Russian geography by referring to the Rostov and Voronezh regions as Ukrainian regions.

Secondly, Ashenden writes, Truss wore a Russian hat with earflaps.

“But now in Russia no one wears such hats, with the exception of the elderly and tourists, and it is unlikely that anyone would want to be like them,” the RIA Novosti observer quotes.

The author expressed confidence that the head of the British Foreign Office is trying to be like the former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, but this does not bring her much success.

“Obviously, the Kremlin does not have much respect for our potential prime minister,” the observer concluded.

On February 9, Truss arrived in Russia for talks with her Russian colleague Sergey Lavrov.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel, called Truss's trip to Moscow on the eve of the Diplomatic Worker's Day "a gift from Anglo-Saxon diplomacy to Russian diplomacy."
