A terrible drama.

An infant died on Wednesday crushed by a tractor in Bethon, in the Marne, during the harvest, and an investigation for manslaughter was opened, we learned this Thursday from the parquet floor of Châlons-en-Champagne, confirming information from

L'Est Eclair.

This baby born in May "had apparently been taken there by his mother or with his mother, who did not work on the harvest", explained to AFP the prosecutor of Châlons-en-Champagne, Ombeline Mahuzier.

The privileged accident track

The investigation, opened for manslaughter, will have to determine in particular why this baby was on the scene of these harvests, she added.

The driver of the tractor, "without history" and negative to all the screenings carried out, was heard under the regime of police custody but it was lifted without being indicted, explained the magistrate.

“He indicates that he did a first control lap before starting the tractor and for the moment we obviously favor a totally accidental thesis” she summarized.

This man "did not see a basket or baby in the immediate vicinity of the tractor but we will take the time to clarify all this, given the absolutely dramatic nature of these facts", insisted Ombeline Mahuzier.
